With feet firmly grounded by tradition but eyes always on the future, Birkenstock made its debut at the annual Sole DXB in December 2019. Held over three days, Sole DXB is an interactive multimedia festival where urban lifestyle aficionados descend upon Dubai’s Design District to discover more, dance freely and dream bigger. Within this vibrant setting booming with contemporary fashion, culture, art and footwear, the iconic German brand presented classic heritage styles alongside their latest designs.
BRAND NEW STYLES
Fashion forward styles inspired by traditional blueprints
From the functional and fashionable Papillio platforms to brand favorites like the Boston clog and the classic multi-tasking Arizona, visitors could enjoy a whole range of Birkenstocks within a modern and nature-inspired framework. But it was the brand’s collection of new styles (featuring highlights like the “Kyoto” and “Copenhagen”) that stole the show. Aimed at millennials and hip Generation Zers, Birkenstock’s latest crop of designs are urban, minimalist and sleek.
STREETSTYLE CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Birkenstock’s universal appeal was evident on the streets of Sole DXB where urbanites fearlessly mixed classics and cutting-edge fashion with Birkenstock designs for an individual and cool finish. From the American Music Editor accentuating her look with white clogs from our professional range to the young reveler in all black and a pair of suede Boston’s in brown suede as his staple; Birkenstock was a firm favorite on feet from all walks of life.

And the reason for the popularity lies of course in our comfortable anatomical footbed and timeless design aesthetics as many on the streets reiterated; after your first pair, there is no going back. Some even say that they can’t live without their Birkenstocks: “Sometimes when I am travelling away I miss my Birkenstock, I just want to go home and wear my Birkenstocks” said one enthusiast. While another fan gladly declared: “they are my everyday shoes”, all solidifying the brand’s reputation for delivering comfortable and wearable staples that mold to your style.

There were many highlights to take home at the end of the three days; from the vibrant art installations to pulsating concerts by talented artists all against the background of the urban and diverse metropolis that is Dubai. At Birkenstock’s nature-inspired booth with plenty of greenery and modern touches we welcomed many icons including legendary Mos Def, introduced visitors to cool designs and drove home the importance of our renowned anatomical footbed and perhaps most importantly we showed future generations that Birkenstock is a timeless brand that’s always moving forward.
