BIRKENSTOCK launches the Spring/Summer 2019 Collection in the magical setting of Giardini Torrigiani
On June 13, 2018, journalists, buyers and stylists were immersed in what was surely the loveliest oasis of tranquility anywhere at the Pitti Uomo Men's Fashion Week. In the Torrigiani Gardens, centrally located near Florence, around 700 guests from the world of fashion were invited to spend four hours relaxing on blankets and comfortable BIRKENSTOCK beds to explore BIRKENSTOCK’s Spring/Summer 2019 Collection. It was an event that elevated the humble picnic to new dimensions!
The entrancing fascination of Europe’s largest city gardens, extending over almost 18 acres behind their imposing walls, was matched by the audience’s enthusiastic reception of the show. Styling for the event was in the hands of Rich Aybar, whose clients include Numéro Homme. A défilé of 50 models showed off the latest designs from BIRKENSTOCK, enhanced by outfits that complemented the footwear to perfection.
Paris-born Michel Gaubert, virtuoso sound designer and specialist sound director for fashion shows, had created the music for this informal event, a welcome contrast to the bustle of the fashion week. Gaubert succeeded in capturing the secluded atmosphere of the location in sound and combining it with BIRKENSTOCK’s hallmarks of comfort and well-being. The catering likewise dovetailed seamlessly into the concept, with lavishly filled picnic baskets delivering easy-going, healthy refreshment.
All in all, an event to recall with the greatest pleasure––and particularly by all those who also took the opportunity to test BIRKENSTOCK’s brand new Natural Skin Care range. The leading foot comfort brand had set up a dedicated spa suite for the occasion.
