The Yao: clever, classic and cool.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you: On the Yao, one of the two shoes has a slightly different design: Both sandals have two adjustable straps, which run diagonally over the instep. However, the right shoe has a third strap which runs crosswise between the other two straps. This makes the Yao truly special. The Yao Balance edition has a symmetrical design – both shoes have the third strap. Either way: The Yao is an eye-catching model that brightens up the summer with its shiny outer fabric and airy, lightweight design.
What material is the Yao made of?
Straps:
The straps of this sandal are made of Birko-Flor®. This synthetic material developed by BIRKENSTOCK stands out thanks to its high durability and skin-friendly properties. On the inside, Birko-Flor® is covered with a soft, breathable fleece layer, and on the Yao, the upper is finished with a patent coating.
Footbed and sole:
the heart of this sandal is the cushioning and supportive anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed. The soft suede lining on top of this is moisture regulating and absorbent. The bottom of the sandal is rounded off by an outsole made of lightweight, flexible EVA plastic.

Girls and women that wear size 35–43 can choose between sporty neon pink/white or neon yellow/white.
The Yao Balance is available in classic black or white and in the modern colour combinations orange/pink or purple/green. The gold-coloured pin buckles create an elegant highlight.
What should I pair with the multi-coloured Yao Balance?
As a general rule, the more colours a shoe has, the more reserved the clothing you pair it with should be in terms of colour and design. Choose one of the colours on the shoe or choose one from the same colour family. The pastel variations are beautiful and summery. For the Yao, these include pale lilac with purple, apricot with orange or mint with green. White can always be used as a neutralising element.
What should I pair with neon colours?
Neon is toned down and made more elegant when it is paired with nude tones. Dresses, skirts or trousers and matching tops in nude colours like cream, beige, pink or light brown give your outfit a grounded look.
