BIRKENSTOCK BOX x RICK OWENS
The BIRKENSTOCK BOX celebrates its collaboration with Rick Owens in Los Angeles. After appearances in Berlin, New York and Milan, the BIRKENSTOCK Box has arrived in Los Angeles.
On April 17th 2018, guests celebrated the Box’s opening in collaboration with Rick Owens, presenting a limited collection exclusively designed for the mobile retail concept. The temporary space displays 13 sandals, 3 legwear styles and clothing separates designed by Owens.
To showcase the limited edition, Owens himself curated the interior of the Box, a shipping container repurposed by architecture duo Gonzalez Haase, which has been traveling the world since 2017.
The event was hosted by Michèle Lamy, alongside editor-in-chief of W Magazine, Stefano Tonchi. Food and drinks were inspired by the legendary "Les Deux Café,” a secluded meeting-point for Hollywood’s elite run by Lamy in the late 90s which was revived for this special occasion.
Attendees included Hari Nef, Aleali May, Caroline Vreeland, George Kotsiopoulos, Lisa Love, Marta Pozzan, Natalie Joos, Stephen Galloway, Jack Dorsey, and Thomas Hayo, among others. The launch took place at the Rick Owens Store on La Brea Avenue for an up-close opportunity to admire the American designer’s collaborative limited collection.
Guests were invited to foot massages with BIRKENSTOCK’s Natural Skin Care products containing cork oak extracts and photographer, Paul Kooiker captured the guests' feet.
