"I ended up sending the shoes back. They arrived and the leather was completely scratched up which apparently is expected for the material. Some of the Birkenstock logo was already worn away too. The quality just doesn’t seem as good as the other type of sandals I’ve worn from Birkenstock for years, especially for the more expensive price."

"Beautiful colour, fit is good but one did really hurt the top of my foot so have worn with thick socks for a few days and pain is not so bad. I have 3 pairs of big buckle arizonas which were comfy straight away. These are a bit prettier so worth it. Love the oiled leather and the big buckle. I would say these are narrower than arizonas as have them in narrow and regular and both are fine but I am glad I got regular width in these."

Ich habe den Schuh zurück
"Ich habe den Schuh zurück geschickt, da der rechte Schuh viel enger am Fuß saß als der Linke. Der Riemen saß rechts viel enger am Fuß u saß auch optisch enger an der Sohle obwohl links die gleicher Lochweite an der Schnalle eingestellt war. So eine ungenaue Fertigung ist bei dem mittlerweile üppigen Preis für ein paar Schlappen nicht akzeptabel."

Oiled leather is one of our favourite types of leather. Its oily waxed surface makes for a unique colour effect and develops a beautiful patina. The oily finish of our natural leather products results in colour variation, making each and every pair unique.
Insole: Natural leather
Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK purposely does not treat surface grains and other characteristic features. BIRKENSTOCK uses sturdy leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as upper material.
Footbed material: Cork
Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.
Outsole: EVA
EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is a high-quality, very light, elastic material with extremely good cushioning. As a result, it smooths out slight irregularities in the floor and ensures that every step is softly cushioned.

The Original Birkenstock Footbed
The heart of all models is the original BIRKENSTOCK footbed. The construction, which has been thought out to the smallest detail and makes it feel like you're standing in sand, helps your feet feel as comfortable as possible for hours on end. This supports health and promotes wellbeing.
The very deep molding in the heel area supports the foot tissue and holds the heel bone firmly in its natural position. This provides the foot with nearly as much support when it is in a sandal as when it is in a closed shoe.
Activates the calf muscles, stabilises the back of the foot and improves gait and coordination.
The arch supports that run alongside the sides of the footbed surround the tarsal bones inside and out. This gives the foot the stability it needs when it takes a step.
The support that runs through the middle of the footbed stabilizes the metatarsal bone. In this way, the transverse arch support helps ensure that the foot has a naturally straight and solid stance.
There are raised indentations at the front of the footbed near the toes. Thanks to the toe grip the toes remain loose and spread out in their natural position. The indentations also support the natural rolling motion of the toes.
The footbed is drawn up especially high at the front. As a result, the high footbed edge protects the toes during the rolling motion of the foot.
