". . . after 30 uninterrupted years of wearing Londons, swollen feet have made the exercise (of buckling their straps) cumbersome at best (and troublesome on occasion). i risked the purchase of this pair of Montana, not at all knowing whether i could effectively be able to wear them painlessly. and, luckily: yes, i can – pheew, i feared for the worst (and they feel like a most welcome substitute). . . . naa, klar: oiled leather's on the stiff side of things when new, it'll have to give in (mine are black), suede would sure feel indeed more comfy from day one, but i fear they would be too difficult to maintain neat and tidy against every day use. i'm aware they won't take well those rainy days half as good as Londons, what with those holes on top. . . but i have other shoes to wear on rainy ones anyway. i hope the Montana soles will outlast those of Londons, especially since i've yet to find a local cobbler able to source the original sole (that Birkenstock doesn't seem to sell as spare part any longer) – and only time will tell."

Insole: Natural leather
Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK purposely does not treat surface grains and other characteristic features. BIRKENSTOCK uses sturdy leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as upper material.
Footbed material: Cork
Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.
