WHAT IS THE BIRKENSTOCK SOFT FOOTBED?

The BIRKENSTOCK Soft Footbed has the same properties as the original BIRKENSTOCK footbed, but with an additional foam insert for extra cushioning and even more comfort. This foam insert contains millions of tiny air bubbles that help provide an especially comfortable experience, particularly for people with sensitive feet – including those with low arches and those who suffer from plantar fasciitis. 

Here’s what the soft footbed looks like, from the bottom up:

  • Outsole – The outsole is made of durable and elastic EVA. It is scuff-resistant and shock-absorbent.
  • First layer of jute – The first layer of jute stabilises the footbed.
  • Cork and latex footbed – The cork and latex core is made of a combination of fine natural cork and natural latex. The anatomically shaped, highly flexible and extremely lightweight footbed absorbs the impact caused by the movement of the foot and supports its natural tissue.
  • Second layer of jute – The second layer of jute is placed around the sides of the footbed. This increases the flexibility of the footbed and makes a significant contribution to the durability of the soft footbed. This layer of thick, absorbent jute helps control moisture.
  • Foam insert – The soft footbed is padded with an anatomically shaped foam insert. This insert contains millions of tiny air bubbles that help provide an especially comfortable experience.
  • Suede lining – The suede lining absorbs moisture. This natural property of the high-quality top layer helps ensure a comfortable foot climate.

    • Inspired by a natural footprint in the sand, our anatomically shaped footbed supports the natural shape of the foot for proper alignment and balance. It isolates individual areas to ensure that different regions of the foot are properly served – the deep heel cup embeds the heel and keeps it firmly in its natural position, while superior arch support keeps the foot well-positioned, with a naturally straight and solid stance.

    Over time, the footbed gradually moulds to the shape of your foot, for a custom fit and unparalleled comfort.
