Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need a regular or a narrow width?
When you first try on a pair of BIRKENSTOCK shoes, they may feel larger and roomier than what you might expect from other types of footwear. This is because BIRKENSTOCK shoes are designed to allow your toes to spread naturally, unlike narrow fashion shoes. Keep this in mind when assessing the fit.

You can adjust and tighten the straps of sandals for a better fit. If the straps still feel too loose, you can have extra holes punched in the strap. If there’s noticeable space on either side of your foot within the footbed, you may need a narrow fit.

In a narrow fit, there should still be some space along the sides of your feet, and your feet should not slide up along the sides of the footbed. You can also refer to the Size Guide for detailed width measurements.

Additionally, all BIRKENSTOCK shoes have a small printed footprint on the footbed. A solid footprint indicates a narrow fit, while an outline of the footprint indicates a regular fit.
