The BIRKENSTOCK Ramses is the men’s version of the popular Gizeh thong sandal. Thanks to the wide strap, this sandal is a favorite among men. High-quality materials and excellent craftsmanship were our top priorities when making these stylish thong sandals. The upper is made from hard-wearing oiled nubuck leather. The BIRKENSTOCK Ramses with anatomically formed original BIRKENSTOCK cork-latex footbed and a velvety soft suede lining is the perfect sandal for people who spend a lot of time on their feet – and offers pure well-being for feet that are still feeling the stress of a tough workday or an intensive workout. The "softy comfort" sole promises an unparalleled level of comfort. This high-quality, dual-component sole comprises an outsole in natural rubber and a midsole in highly flexible synthetic EVA. EVA boasts outstanding shock-absorbent properties and therefore guarantees a gait that is easy on the joints, even on hard surfaces; the rubber sole offers strong grip and a secure footing on slippery surfaces. Thanks to an individually adjustable metal buckle, the strap can be perfectly adjusted to the wearer’s feet. The anatomically shaped, contrasting thong provides even more gentle grip. Upper material: Oiled leather
Oiled leather is one of our favourite types of leather. Its oily waxed surface makes for a unique colour effect and develops a beautiful patina. The oily finish of our natural leather products results in colour variation, making each and every pair unique.
Insole: Natural leather
Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK purposely does not treat surface grains and other characteristic features. BIRKENSTOCK uses sturdy leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as upper material.
Footbed material: Cork
Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.
Outsole: Two-component sole
The two-component sole combines the lightness and flexibility of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) with the elasticity and scuff resistance of rubber.

The Original Birkenstock Footbed

A legendary design

The heart of all models is the original BIRKENSTOCK footbed. The construction, which has been thought out to the smallest detail and makes it feel like you're standing in sand, helps your feet feel as comfortable as possible for hours on end. This supports health and promotes wellbeing.

Deep heel cup

The very deep molding in the heel area supports the foot tissue and holds the heel bone firmly in its natural position. This provides the foot with nearly as much support when it is in a sandal as when it is in a closed shoe.

Heel mould

Activates the calf muscles, stabilises the back of the foot and improves gait and coordination.

Interior and exterior longitudinal arch supports

The arch supports that run alongside the sides of the footbed surround the tarsal bones inside and out. This gives the foot the stability it needs when it takes a step.

Transverse arch support

The support that runs through the middle of the footbed stabilizes the metatarsal bone. In this way, the transverse arch support helps ensure that the foot has a naturally straight and solid stance.

Toe grip

There are raised indentations at the front of the footbed near the toes. Thanks to the toe grip the toes remain loose and spread out in their natural position. The indentations also support the natural rolling motion of the toes.

Footbed edge

The footbed is drawn up especially high at the front. As a result, the high footbed edge protects the toes during the rolling motion of the foot.
