Material

The BIRKENSTOCK Rio model is the classic kids’ shoe. Designed back in the 1970s, it has been a laid-back and comfortable companion for generations of children ever since. This successful model – with its anatomically formed original BIRKENSTOCK cork-latex footbed –boasts two adjustment options. Thanks to individually adjustable metal buckles, two straps –one in the ankle/heel area and one over the instep – ensure that the sandal is an excellent fit for every foot and that it gives active kids firm support with every step they take. Cut-out sections on the front strap lend these sandals a bright and breezy look and ensure that children’s feet get plenty of fresh air. This is a model that puts the stars within reach. The allover star print in a galactically shimmering metallic look will not only be a hit with girls of a romantic nature. The upper is made of skin-friendly, easy-clean Birko-Flor® in a fine suede look The underside is lined with an exceptionally soft and smooth layer of fleece. The robust, extremely lightweight and light-colored EVA sole is very flexible, too. The classic BIRKENSTOCK bone profile has been reduced in size, enabling a healthy rolling motion for kids’ feet.

Upper: Microfibers

Microfibers are a very fine synthetic fibers that are extremely soft and shape-retentive. As with Birko-Flor® the surface is combined with a layer of breathable fleece.

Insole: Natural leather

Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK purposely does not treat surface grains and other characteristic features. BIRKENSTOCK uses sturdy leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as upper material.

Footbed material: Cork

Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.

Outsole: EVA

EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is a high-quality, very light, elastic material with extremely good cushioning. As a result, it smooths out slight irregularities in the floor and ensures that every step is softly cushioned.
