Right Royal Footwear
2018 sees a momentous encounter between two unique names. BIRKENSTOCK, synonymous with supreme foot comfort, will debut a limited edition collection with Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin – the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, home of exquisitely hand-crafted porcelain since 1763. The quality of KPM’s porcelain is so enduring that BIRKENSTOCK chose to embellish two of its most popular sandal styles, Arizona and Gizeh, with exclusive porcelain ornaments from the Berlin manufactory.
A hand-polished medallion of white porcelain featuring KPM’s scepter logo now adorns all sandal styles in this limited edition collection. Styles are available in two designs: in one, the supple cowhide is embossed with motifs from KPM’s legendary Kurland porcelain, while the other features lavishly detailed gold decoration gleaming against the deep black leather, inspired by KPM’s Kurland Royal Noir Service.
Two iconic brands united in luxury
Neoclassical ornaments and sandals complement each other as harmoniously as the richly storied manufacturers behind them, each with around 250 years of proud history. Both KPM and BIRKENSTOCK share a timeless aesthetic philosophy, German manufacturing quality, and materials expertise. It’s easy to feel from the premium leather, and it’s easy to see in the supreme craftsmanship of the gold-finish metal buckles and the metal settings with the porcelain medallions. The luxurious appearance is underpinned by the comfort of the anatomical footbed and Piumato leather insole.
Hand craftsmanship as fashion statement
Now the regal porcelain of KPM will enhance both festive tables and fine footwear. See it from May 22 to June 9 in two special display areas on the ground and third floors of Berlin’s famous KaDeWe department store. The limited edition sandals can also be purchased there – and are also available in Europe from www.birkenstock.com.
